Happy Meme Monday: Pinterest vs. Real Life

The problem I find with social media is that it doesn’t portray real life – you know?! If you’ve been to Pinterest you know there’s so much information there, from how to’s to recipes to do-it-yourself projects. Parent’s will go on there to find how to keep their two year old distracted or do it yourself projects, like learning how to build a small sandbox that will help your child with their fine motor skills. And how to make your very own cleaning solution at home. The list goes on and on, but the reality is that, it’s faster for me to 1) order the cleaning solution online on Amazon Prime or Grove Collaborative – an online chemical free cleaning supply store or 2) visit my local Target store. Yes, that’s it, I’m just not trying to become a part time chemist!

The thought of making my very own laundry soap seems phenomenal but the reality is that I don’t have the time for that!

The realities of any parent that stays home is different. I’m really just wanting 5 minutes of alone time in the bathroom – yes! I’m that mom trying to schedule in my showers during nap time and just wanting my kids to actually go pee at home before we go somewhere so I don’t get dragged into a public bathroom. I’m not the one making my very own hand soap, let alone sand box, however, if you are one, hey there hey, kudos for you!

Here’s to keeping the kids live long enough until dad gets home and rescues you, and feeding them cereal for lunch on those days we’re just too darn tired to try to make anything healthier than that!

  1. For reals. There’s a lady I know who has at least 5 children, can paint murals, makes her own soaps and face creams, which she also sells. It boggles my mind how she is also one of the most active members at church.

  2. lmbo this is so freaking true and I must admit that I have went to pinterest to see if I can make something on my own and never got to it. Heres to keeping the children alive. We live in the generation of instant gratification and the internet….whatever happened to reality??? It’s so far fetched nowadays that people really don’t know that they live in reality daily. I love this post and cereal for lunch is always bomb lol

    1. Hey Vivian, so happy to have seen your message this morning! ☺️🙏🏽 I feel ok, my head has finally ‘leveled’ out since last week. I felt like it was a never ending vertigo. There were just too many things going on all at once.
How was your doctors visit? Was a routine check up?

      1. Oh good to hear!! Yes, recovery seems to take upwards of one week for me too. You’re in my prayers. 🙏💪💚
Yes, routine for me! I get adjusted every three weeks as it’s all my nervous system can take without going into shock. She’s doing cranial-sacral adjustments which is brutal but necessary. I told her a new symptom that popped up which she said she NEVER heard of before and I was like great……now I’m truly a freak. Ya know how that is?

      2. Yes, I don’t know why, doing things that can seem so ‘normal’ can just take a toll on my body – especially my brain. It’s horrible! Oh wow! I’ve never heard of that, but so glad there’s something that can alíviate your symptoms.
Oh I know, I’m even hesitant to say anything out of the norm now because I don’t know what their response will be. 🤦🏽‍♀️ But I know it’s crucial to say it all, so I do anyway. After my back surgery, my menstrual cycle has been crazy – having it at all hours of the month, my Neuro said it’s common after back surgery! 😳😣 Ugh! Who would have thought?! 🤦🏽‍♀️

      3. Yes, it’s quite new I think? I never heard either but was told it can help relieve pressure on my brain and heal my nervous system. Plus, I have a twisted sacrum and back is messed up. I also hear daith piercing will help too with pressure but I’m scared as it’s really painful from what I’ve read. Yes, you are right. We should keep speaking up about symptoms but it can be embarrassing for me…..ya know? Awwww, yes I bet the surgery was hard on all your systems. How long ago was that Ana?

      4. Oh wow! Yes, I have an appt to go see my gynecologist, to see if they can help to regulate it, not sure though how much help they’ll be. It’s worth a trip though. The back surgery was last year, November 7, 2017. And this year, November 20, 2018 I have surgery scheduled to remove my thyroid.
My husband and I joke that I’ve had surgery – some type, every year since the year we got married. 🤷🏽‍♀️😣🤔 Oh my! Haha! I guess it does take a strong man to be with a strong woman. It’s been a roller coaster, but God continues to help us get through it. Even though it seems at times I may seem ungrateful to Him. He knows my internal battles, at times I want to ask the why’s, and I stop myself. There’s no questioning, there’s just being grateful. I’m thankful He’s merciful towards me.

      5. Awwwww Ana, that’s why I’m so fond of you because your so postive and hopeful which is so refreshing to me. So many in my group are negative Nellies always dragging me down so I stay away most days. Yes, it’s good to relate but the constant sadness gets to me. I’m glad you are finding such comfort in Jesus. He is holding you. I’m putting down your thyroid surgery in my prayer journal. And I want you to know I’m here for you and want to be a help in anyway I can. I’m grateful this day for you and your dear husband for his support too. Big hugs !! 🤗🤗🙏❤❤💪

      6. Likewise Vivian! I told my husband the other day, he got a little bothered that I once again didn’t attend church. And I told him about what you had said about that same thing. See?! I said, someone gets it! 😊🙌🏽 Yes, the constant body pains is a daily reminder of the condition. It gets tiring, same thing, same symptoms, day in and day out. I’m behind on house chores from last week, but am so relieved that it’s settled quite a bit. I began my routine at home yesterday trying to catch up on things that just had to be put on hold. It’s ok to put ourselves first, and let everything else wait.
I love that – a prayer journal! I’m going to start one too! That’s brilliant 😊 Yes! I will keep you posted, probably by email, but I’ll keep you posted as we get near to the date. Many hugs to you too, prayers to you, may God give you the strength to homeschool your children today as best as you can despite your physical pain. 😊🙏🏽

      1. Lol I was just planning to make a natural soap using my essential oils, so excited. I should be thankful that I have more time than others for soap making. But kudos to all Moms, such a huge sacrifice and selflessness. Kudos to you! It’s actually you who deserve pampering. 🙂

      2. Yes that’s it, that’s all – you have more time! I’m sure it’s a healthier alternative. And it’s always nice to have things that you’ve done from scratch, you save money too 🙌🏽 I’ve seen on Pinterest, home made soaps to laundry detergent, fabric softener. It’s all incredible. 😊

      3. Will definitely do that, slowly ditching chemical based products at home. I use natural shampoo, toothpaste and mouthwash (all essential oils infused). Now will work on my own concoction of soap, perfume and deodorant, will also infused with essential oils. You gave me an idea, thanks! Hope you get a good rest today! 🙂

      4. Yes, I order my cleaning supplies through Grove Collaborative – not sure if you’ve heard of them. They’re great! I have an offer in one of my posts for a free gift if you’d like to give them a try. All healthy, no chemicals. 😊

      1. Ahhh trust me been there done that 😜… although I have one but he was quite a handful ….every day middle of the night he’d wake up howling refusing to open his eyes ….and we’d take him for a drive …come back wide awake and then struggle to fall back to sleep 😝😁

      2. Wow! Yes, there’s one in my bunch that’s the handful of them all, he has the energy for the rest of the five. I don’t know where he gets it! If I’m not watching him, he likes to go to the top of the sofa and jump to the floor. Or get up on the bed frames and jump from there! I’m honestly surprised I haven’t had to rush him to the ER with all the things he does. Eek! 😣

      1. Um… I think I can count the number of times I wore heels on one hand. 😁😬 I am 5’11 so flats are my thing!! There are some pretty ones now a days! lol! So… have no fear… we are a part of the mom squad my dear! 🤗😁
