SO WHAT IS BLOGGER RECOGNITION AWARD?

Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to encourage and acknowledge the hard work and effort that goes into creating posts.  It’s an opportunity for bloggers to recognize one another for each of our contributions to their blog and the blogging community!

Award Rules:

• Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

• Write a post to show your award.

• Give a brief story of how your blog got started.

• Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

• Select 5 other bloggers to nominate.

• Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and provide a link to your post.

The Beginning …

my motivation was – and continues to be, to raise awareness for my diagnosis and you can read more on that in my first post here titled Chiari Malformation + Syringomyelia. Chiari Malformation or ‘Chiari‘ for short, is a rare condition, a congenital condition, one I never thought I’d have. But God knowing so much more than I can ever, has allowed this to come into my life. Although I don’t know many times the why’s, I’ve learned that it’s sometimes best to stop asking the why’s and start accepting things as they are. The diagnosis – like many, has a way of making one feel little and alone. So, after much thought, I decided to begin a blog in hopes of connecting with other people living with Chiari or other forms of illnesses. It’s been a lot of time spent on the blog, however it’s been rewarding having connected with so many people, some that don’t even have Chiari but still are going through their own personal struggles.

My Advice To New Bloggers …

I would still consider myself a new blogger. I began my blog earlier this year and I can’t say I have any legitimate advice on creating a ‘successful’ blog. I like to think that I should always consider myself a new blogger, as I always want to continue to grow, learn, and contemplate how I can recreate my site as well as myself, to become a better version of who I was yesterday. If you could write anything, write as if you were writing to a dear and beloved friend, be honest, write your own authentic thoughts on topics of your liking. I always try to be honest, who you are is what will connect you with your readers. Also, try to not focus on the numbers, number of followers, number of likes, number of comments, etc. All will come in due time. And make time, make time to read posts, time to comment, time to interact with your readers. This will tell your readers, you’re invested in them as they are in you.

  1. Ana, I enjoyed reading about how your blog got started, and I enjoyed, as well, reading your advice to new bloggers. I liked how you described that we (all bloggers, really) should write like we are writing to a friend and to always be honest. I particularly liked the “honest” part, for that is so critical. We all need to be who we really are and never put on airs or pretend we are something we are not. And, we should always treat our readers as though they are our friends, for most of them are, I am sure. For, we should always be honest with our friends, too, in being true to who we are and to who God made us to be. And, we should care about our readers, too, and never take them for granted. So, thanks for what you shared. I look forward to reading more of your blog, as well. Sue

  2. Congrats on your well-deserved award! I’ll go check out Laura’s blog now. I love your reasoning for starting your blog, and you’re right with a conditions like that where you can feel so alone, and it’s bloggers like you that much such a difference, bringing encouragement, support, sharing your own experiences and connecting those who may be in a similar boat. Sorry I’ve only just started catching up on blog reading today as I’ve been rather poorly, but this has put a smile on my face – thank you for the kind nomination! 🙂

    1. Ohhhh my dearest Laura! 🙂 Such a sweet, sweet soul! Thank you again for nominating me and my ‘little site that could.’ I feel incredibly blessed also, there are people you will come across in life, but then there are those that will make an unforgettable impact – that’s you! WordPress has a whole lot of phenomenal people, how blessed are we to have a chance to connect with many of them. 🙂
