Happy Meme Monday: Shopping With Mom Versus Dad

This meme served to remind me of the fact that there are a few differences when it comes to shopping with mom versus the children shopping with dad.

Shopping in my home ….

Mom                                    vs.                              Dad

Mom: Goes off ‘the list’ – probably, every single time

Dad: Gets only whats on the list

Mom: If child gets cranky, will buy one small bag of chips

Dad: If child gets cranky, depending on the level of ‘crankiness,’ will either finishing shopping or leave the store

Mom: Budget?! ….. she tried!

Dad: Budget, on track and is adding it all up as he shops

Mom: Reads labels

Dad: You want ketchup, it’s a red bottle, I brought you a red bottle, bread is bread!

Mom: Still attempts to use coupons

Dad: Doesn’t care for coupons, to read them, none of it – too confusing

Mom: Is in a rush, goes in for one thing, still manages to get 10!

Dad: Is in a rush, goes in for one thing, comes out with one thing.

Mom: Will make up excuses for the extra purchase before getting home

Dad: No extra purchase = No excuses

Mom: Goes for the healthiest choice

Dad: Goes with the brand that has a special deal that day

Mom: Item out of stock, will ask employee for help

Dad: Out of stock?! Maybe next time!

Do you and your spouse also have a few differences when it comes to shopping for the home, would love to know! Do share!

Happy Monday!

The Christmas Tag 2018

This tag was sent to me by Stuart, if you haven’t read his tag, it’s here. He blogs about life but the honesty behind his words will always leave your heart feeling full – such great content. And I have been very blessed to have connected through this outlet with him. Thank you again for this tag Stuart!

HERE ARE THE RULES:

  1. You must thank the person who nominated you
  2. Link back to the original post (the one on this blog) and use the graphic provided.
  3. Answer the questions given
  4. Nominate at least 3 people. (or more if your feeling like a nice person)
  5. Give the nominees 10 questions to answer (or use the ones previously given)
  6. HAVE FUN!

HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS:

1. What present did you always want as a child and never received?

Great question, unfortunately, the answer will seem a little complex. Growing up in a low income household, I was taught to appreciate the little things. I didn’t know what was the ‘hottest’ toy and didn’t know what I was ‘missing out’ on. All I know is that, one Christmas I received a Cabbage Patch Doll – I may have been 5 years old, it was the best Christmas, I loved it so much. And I am fortunate to have a mother who held on to it. When I had my oldest daughter, my mother gave it to me. I still have it.

2. What are your top 5 Christmas movies?

I’ll link the post I did here of our families favorite movies to watch this time of year. I’ll will tell you, Home Alone 1 and 2 is always on replay, especially this time of year. And if you don’t know, Macaulay Culkin teamed up with Google to recreate some of the most famous scenes, so if you haven’t watched it – you must!

3. Out of all the Christmas songs, which one makes you truly joyful?

So easy, hands down ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ from Bobby Helms! Love it! A close second, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ from Mariah Carrey, because you know, she’s fabulous darling!

4. What special memory do you have of Christmas morning, as a parent?

Making our very special Christmas breakfast. We go all out, making sure it is the most special breakfast, it’s a brunch, with all the toppings the little ones tummy can absorb. I make pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, and plenty of toppings, whip cream, chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, etc. It’s a messy house, filled with the blessing of having an assortment of food.

5. What was your favorite Christmas gift?

My Kitchen Aid mixer, my husband gifted me the beauty about 4 years ago! It’s heaven for baking, HEAVEN!

6. At what age did you realize that Santa was not real?

I didn’t grow up with Santa, so I’m good! I was taught from teeny tiny, that Jesus brought us the gifts through our parents. I’m not trying my very best to instill that in my own kids, so not to disappointment them later. Hehe.

7. How long do you stay awake Christmas Eve setting everything up for the kids?

Is just Hispanics – aka Mua, but traditionally, we stay up all night and open gifts at midnight. Because of my condition, known as Chiari + Syringomyelia it’s getting tough to keep up to do that. We do try though, open gifts late on the 24th and then our family opens stockings Christmas Day after the breakfast I told you about in number 4.

8. What traditions have you and your spouse made for your marriage on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Not to focus on gifts for one another. We are our own special gifts, try our best to do better for one another, and promise to love one another as we are, flaws and all.

9. Are you a all year Christmas shopper or a last minute shopper?

I’m an Amazon Prime ‘Christmas shopper.’ However, we’re moving really soon, like next week soon – please pray for my sanity, and well, my Christmas shopping will be done literally last minute. And I won’t share more, because it’s too shocking to even say! Eek!

10. What is the hardest thing you have ever had to put together for your kids to enjoy once they woke up?

Haha! Last year, I so brilliantly wanted to gift the kids a mini kitchen, you’ve seen them, the one with the stove and the faucet made to resemble your own kitchen, they’re so cute. To put together, not so much! I had received it weeks ahead of Christmas, we manage to get someone to take the kids out of the house while we build it on the 22nd, and when I opened the box the ‘counter’ wood piece was cracked! Ugh! But, thanks to baby Jesus for my quick thinking, I went to the store and picked up some Marble Self Adhesive Liner. The kitchen finished off with a gray ‘marble’ counter top, and what the heck, I also lined did the insides of the cabinets, including the ‘microwave.’ And, ok fine, I spray painted the white kitchen handles in gold! Because I’m a tiny bit insane like that. Again, very cute, very much a hassle!

I was tagged to do this ‘Weirdoff Tag’ by The Eclectic Contrarian. If you haven’t seen his Weirdoff Tag, you can take a look here.

What’s a ‘Weirdoff Tag’ you ask: A Weirdoff is something that is so stupidly funny and ridiculous you can’t help but snort and laugh. The challenge is to find the craziest funniest thing you can possibly find. There no particular rules. Tag at least 3 people. If you want. You can be as weird as you like but we try to be family friendly at the Eclectic Contrarian.

I knew this was what bald men did when they’re bored! And because I have kids and well, chicken nuggets and kids go hand in hand, I had to include this one with the chicken nugget chasing the car!

I will be the first to admit that birthday’s are different when you’re a parent. Yes, the joys and extra love of being a parent on your birthday is undeniably amazing. But there are other realities too, I’d say, even more so when the kids are still little. Like, for instance, you’ll be reminding your little ones of when your birthday is weeks in advance, because this doesn’t seem egotistic – not at all, or that my lovely man of a husband in regards of the purchasing gifts department, well, let’s just say that isn’t his forte. So, in our years – not too many, of marriage we’ve come to an unspoken agreement that, I would buy my own gifts. Before you go on and feel sorry for me, don’t, thank you, but don’t! Because I’ve really come to appreciate myself in getting exactly what I want. There’s got to be some advantages of being the birthday girl while the children are still little!

And Happiest of Birthday to the rest of my fellow Scorpios, may your days be filled with blessing and much laughter!

Reblog Wednesday: Pit Stop — Real Life of an MSW

This post here gave me a good laugh. I enjoy so much the comic strips from Real Life Of An MSW but this one here I just had to share. I’m not one to do our grocery shopping – shocker, I know, but I’m always so amazed when my husband does the shopping and comes back with exactly what was on our list. I mean, really?! I can’t do that to save my life! I mean I go in there with the thought of getting five items and come out with ten, that according to my logic they are absolutely ‘necessary.’ And don’t get me started on shopping for the children, I’ll go in there and purchase everything in the clearance rack because, well, they were on the ‘clearance rack.’ I know! My next mission in life is to stop the overspending, yeah, because it’s no bueno.

Happy Meme Monday: House of Lost Things

Does this happen to you, or does this only happen in my household or perhaps you remember this from when you were younger. Why is it that moms are the only ones that can track lost things in the home?! It can be anything from batteries, to socks and shoes, to toys, to their favorite blanket. When something is no where to be found, kids don’t waste a minute before simply asking mom where it is or where to find it. Mom’s have the ability to remember where things were last placed or last seen, and can remember this for a long period of time. It’s a talent – it has to be!

Happy Meme Monday: Real Life Parent

If you have never understood why parents are always so tired, groggy and sleepy, perhaps it wasn’t until you became a parent yourself that you understood the reasons why. There are so many things that change when you become a parent. I think it’s a given to know that there is less time for you and more time for the little one. There is less time to get yourself ready, you know those days where you look so put together, yeah, you’ll be lucky to be wearing something decent, you know the beautiful wind blowing curly hair – nope, the makeup days are also reduced to really close to none. And the only thing that’ll be going through your mind will be just wanting to squeeze in 5 more minutes of sleep time. Because who doesn’t appreciate a good 5 more minutes of sleep?!
