There is nothing scarier than a mom staring straight at their child and saying, nothing, absolutely anything. And I’m not just saying this because it’s been proven to work by those that lived long before we did, but yes friend it works! So, before you go on and tired yourself out trying to compromise with an eight year old, when all fails, just lean in and whisper, they’ll go wide eyed before you know it!

I will have to try that with my two. I’m not sure if it will work though. They don’t listen to me shouting either. Will try staring at them..

It’s no walk in the park, but they’ll learn when mom means business. 😊

I hope so, but they often just laugh at me.

No way! We don’t do it, but have you tried, time out?! I’ve read, that the time is according to their age. If the child is 5 years old, then the time out is for 5 minutes and so forth.

this is so funny! and so true. we were at Target yesterday and two of my girls were with me. we were watching this mom yell at her kids. one mentioned, you never yelled at us like that…………the older one said………..”no, mom would lean in and whisper to us, that is way scarier. thank you for the laugh today. you are in my daily prayers.

Isn’t it true?! We think that children will be obedient the louder we speak to them. Not at all true. It’s easier to lose our cool but when we remember to breathe, things go smoother for everyone. And for my smaller babies, I keep their schedules in mind. The closer it is to their nap time, the less likely it will be for them to behave. So, I don’t do that to either of us, we stay back.
Thank you so much Wendi! I appreciate your prayers during this recovery time. 😊🙏🏽

Oh I confess I’m the yelling type. But I’ve tried many times to control it, I know I really can’t without God’s help, and He knows I need it. I’ll try this one as help from Him 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh it’s really hard without His help! I agree. But He graces us with love and patience when we need it the most. At the end, I’ve seen that yelling doesn’t accomplish anything but just get everyone even more upset.

Leaning in whispering is the best, in the home, when communicating with others on and even when working with students.
Very nicely written. Great Parenting Tip💜

Very true Yonnie, I agree! There is no reason to yell, unless there’s a fire of course. Otherwise, kids have to learn to listen regardless of my tone level, no need to raise it for them to be obedient. It’s a process but when we get there, it’s so much more peaceful for everyone.

Yes, definitely… then they will know when there is an emergency. Studies have proven and I did an some research when your yelling and screaming as a way of communicating after about the 5th word you have lost them. You will find you have to repeat the same thing again lol.. if your giving instructions

Lol nice! Great information! Very true.
Yes, they can’t get past the loud noise, by then it’s just noise, and zero communication.

Would you recommend the same theory above? I mean don’t you think that if you grow your children with love and support and yes Stares and scolds whenever necessary but not always, a child will prosper and he/she will also develop a very healthy relationship with his/her parents and will also be able to open up.
LikeLiked by 1 person
As much as my memes are to be taken lightly and with humor, some such as these are that much funnier because there’s much truth in them.
As a parent, this isn’t a theory but a proven fact – and I speak for myself. My children weren’t sent to me for me to scold them, but to correct them with much love and patience as the Father himself has had much love and patience for me. However, as the word says, if you love your child, you will correct your child. How do you correct them?! Well, that’s up to you.
My own parenting style doesn’t call for yelling, as I don’t think kids lack hearing as much as they lack concentration. And it’s just as important to me that they build an important relationship with God as they do with me. So far I say we’re doing good Piyush. I have six healthy children, in case of emergency, I don’t lack volunteers to come over and help with them which that in itself says enough.
I’m a firm believer that it all starts in the home, love for God, respect for themselves and others, etc. And I try not to be blind and naive as to what’s going on in the world so I speak on it to them because what I don’t teach in my home, the streets will do for me. And I don’t want that.
As always, thanks for your comment!

Ana, this is so well explained. Yk the streets can teach the baddest and even the most humble. It can either transform someone or dig them more into the dirt. Build relationships is crucial, agreed! But what’s more crucial is how you maintain them cus I believe relationships can turn into relation-shits if not ‘maintained.’
A very well explained reply.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, exactly! We should take the time to build our relationship with our children, with everyone. Or at least those you love and want to keep in your life for a while. If you don’t maintain a healthy relationship, it can go south, quickly.
Thanks again Piyush! Hope you’re doing well. 😊🙏🏽

I remember going on a negotiation course. One of the techniques they teach you is to say nothing and do the equivalent of a Paddington Bear Hard Stare. Never used it at work but has been very useful at home.

Moms are terrifying lol!! This makes me think of dog psychology, when you stare a dog in the eye, you’re telling them you are the alpha. I’ve noticed dogs will either stop or go away when I did this… must be what it’s like giving the mom stare lol!!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Lol yes! That’s it, it’s letting them know who’s the alpha in the relationship. I’ve seen Cesar Millán do this with his dogs on tv – great trainer.

I read somewhere, ‘be yourself, everyone else is already taken.’
So true, so beautiful. I often think to hold back in who I truly am in fear of rejection. No, that shouldn’t be. What some see as flaws will be beauty to those that love you because they’ll learn to accept you as you are.

You know me by now that I am not exactly normal lol… I’ve learned and am still learning to be happy being me! I like a lot of things most people don’t like and a lot that I don’t like most people do… that’s ok! That’s them and this is me!

That’s really what friendship is all about, accepting the other as they are – without the judgment. It can be hard, but once you’ve accepted yourself, you’ll learn to accept others.
That’s right! That’s then and this is me. Perfectly said.

That’s amazing! Random though just can’t to mind, how incredible is it how God can place the perfect person for us in our path to marry and join as one. We may be different much more then we are alike but at the end we compliment one another. And really both strive to do the same for the other, to make the other happy. We give ourselves up, for the other.

How insane is the human spirit. We are limited when loving others and even when loving ourselves. We’re just not accepting of ourselves, always in constant doubt. Not good enough, not pretty enough, not man enough, always something, nagging about something. Ugh!
I tell my kids, no one will love you more than the Lord, seek His love – no one else’s. Not even mom and dad.

Very true! Yes, we should be more loving and patient with ourselves. We forget where we’ve come out from, what we’ve been through, mentally and physically. We need to give ourselves more time to heal and expect less of so much.
I expect my body to be what it was – no chance! Nope! My body has been through too much to also ask it to look like what it did in my 20’s, uhm, no, think again!
They’re stages, phases, we evolve, change and adjust to this time, today and now.
